Do You Need a Voltage Converter?

If the voltage in Brades doesn’t align with the 120V used in the U.S., you’ll need a converter to safely use your electronics.

Before plugging in any device abroad, always make sure to check the power input label. If it states “100-240V, 50/60 Hz”, your device is designed to work on multiple voltages and won’t need a converter. Many modern electronics, including phones, tablets, and rechargeable items, have this feature.

More About Brades

Brades is the unofficial capital of Montserrat. After Plymouth was abandoned because of the volcano, Brades stepped up as the island’s main hub. It’s a quiet village, but it packs in all the essentials—shops, banks, restaurants, and a small-town vibe where everyone knows everyone.

It’s also a great jumping-off point for exploring the rest of the island. The Montserrat Volcano Observatory is just a short drive away, and it gives you front-row views of the Soufrière Hills volcano. You can literally watch steam rise from the dome on a clear day. Pretty wild when you think about it.

Brades uses the same plugs and outlets as the rest of Montserrat.
